Power Hour Drinking Game

Power hour is a timed game with one simple rule. You take a sip of beer every minute for 60 minutes straight. That is the whole game.

Most people run it with a power hour playlist that changes songs every minute, so the song switch is your cue to drink.

How to Play Power Hour

Setup: Pour your beer and have a small glass ready. Cue up a power hour playlist, which is a set of songs each cut to one minute, or just set a timer to beep every 60 seconds.

Playing: Every minute, take one small sip of beer. When the song changes, or the timer goes off, everyone drinks. Then you wait for the next minute.

The finish: Keep going for all 60 minutes. It sounds easy, but a sip every minute adds up to a lot of beer over an hour, so pace your pours.

Century Club variant: For a bigger challenge, some groups play 100 minutes instead of 60. That version is called the Century Club.

Tips

  • Use a light beer and small sips. Sixty minutes is longer than it sounds.
  • A ready-made power hour playlist makes the timing automatic.
  • Keep water nearby and know your limit.
