How to Play Flip Cup
Setup: Split into two even teams and line up on opposite sides of the table, facing each other. Each player gets a cup filled with the same small amount of drink and sets it at the table edge.
The relay: On "go," the first player on each team drinks their cup, sets it back on the edge, then flips it with a flick of the fingers so it lands face-down. Use only one hand, with no help from the other. You keep trying until it lands upside down. Only then can the next teammate start.
Winning: Play moves down the line, one player at a time. The first team to finish with every cup flipped down wins the round.
Tips
- Keep the pours small and equal so the race stays fair.
- Flip from the rim with a light, steady tap. Too much force sends the cup flying.
- Line up in the same order each round so you can track who is up.

You need two even teams, so six or more is ideal. The bigger the teams, the longer and more exciting the relay.
What is the trick to flipping the cup?
Place the cup near the table edge with a little hanging off, then tap the rim from below with one finger. A light, controlled flick works far better than a hard hit.
Can you play flip cup without alcohol?
